I really love the 4-Track looper, yet I would wish to have the option to able to play/stop individual tracks via a midi cc command for more control
Hey - thanks for posting!
You can mute any track / bring it back in using the volume CCs. Have you tried that as a workaround?
Good idea. And what about allowing to start individual or all loops on a cc command?
Same thing.
Say you want to mute track 1, you’d send MIDI CC 37, value = 0.
Then to bring it back in you’d send MIDI CC 37, value = 127 (or less depending on desired volume).
Repeat / duplicate for multiple tracks.
I meant to start the loop from 0:00
MIDI transport controls were also requested in this thread:
We’ll add it to the list of things to consider for firmware 2.1. Thanks!
Thanks, looking forward .
Is there a rough timeline for the release of Firmware 2.1? Weeks, Months, Year?
Probably months - it will be sometime later this year. We’ll work on 2.1 when we make another batch of Ribbons.
Any News here? Would love to have this
have been using volume toggles as a workaround for bringing tracks in & out, but yeh in general a stop/start ability and being able to desynchronize the tracks and trigger them independently from each other would be next-level and an insanely cool feature. +1
i only use the 4trk via midi and tbh im still getting my head around it and not sure if im missing something possible with toe/finger tapping but my current understanding is, when you trigger something on a loop like 1/2 speed or reverse direction you have to wait for the loop downbeat to retrigger ie. if you have a 10sec loop, hit 1/2 speed at 4sec, it wont happen for 6 more seconds. is think thats correct yeh?
if so, whats the main reason for that? just the way its built or is it a requirement based on being a 4track and neediing synchronisation between them?
would the ability to operate as a desynchronisable 4track, make it possible to emulate features of a performance looper like the line6 DL4, where triggering start stop and speed or direction changes happens instantly during playback? and even options like play x1 or xX number of times, because that would be my number 1 feature request. instantaneous manipulation of those things on any track.
Speed and direction changes are applied to your loops in real time, unless you are sending Ribbons MIDI clock. It has always worked this way.
cool thanks, thought i was blocking but yep had something in my rig throwing midi clk out.
but yeh again, if its not pushing the already awesome limits of ribbons, ability to enter freeform mode with stop/start on desynced individual loops w/ performance triggers would rule.
also any news on this?
Sorry but we don’t have a specific timeline to share for this. Please keep in mind that Kinotone is just me and Hannah (and firmware / hardware is all me). I know this feature is important to you but we’re fully focused on releasing our next device at the moment.
