Hi, I am just getting started with Ghosts, and one of my primary interests is the ability to load user scales. I have a number Scala files that I use, and I can convert them to MTS. However, when I attach Ghosts to my Windows 11 machine using USB-C (the pedal is powered up, of course), MIDI-OX does not detect it as a MIDI input or output device. Is there something else I need to do?
Thanks,
Dave
I’ve used MIDI-OX a lot to send MTS sysex files to Ghosts. One common gotcha is that MIDI-OX only scans for MIDI devices when it launches. So try quitting MIDI-OX completely, plug Ghosts in via USB, then open MIDI-OX and check the MIDI Devices menu.
Also make sure no other MIDI applications are running (DAWs, MIDI utilities, browser tabs with MIDI, etc.). On Windows it’s common for another app to grab exclusive access to a MIDI device, which can prevent it from showing up in MIDI-OX.
Thanks for that reminder. In fact, I’ve been careful not to run any other apps (including the browser) that might open a MIDI device, and Ghosts still does not appear. Turns out the issue is actually a little deeper. I found a Power Shell commend to list all present USB devices, and I don’t see anything that looks like the pedal. But I have solved it: I was used an under-powered AC adaptor, I usually use 500mA or higher, but without thinking I used a power brick that must be only 200mA. I switched to a 500mA supply, and success! I was able to send an MTS sysex using MIDI-OX, and it seems to have worked just fine.
Thanks for your help, and I look forward to exploring Ghosts!
Also I finally noticed that when it was underpowered, the pedal didn’t activate all the LEDs; with adequate power, they all came on. This is a nice little feature!
