possibly stupid question, but prev was always loading init via midi, recently tried directly and it responds for me by lighting up a random light position (usually the third) in a random colour… not the first light in red.
I mean seems to work, so whatever, just not sure whats up there. outdated manual or emergent sentient behaviour of my ribbons down the rainbow road?
Quick clarification on the manual note:
- The preset menu defaults to slot 1 only the first time you open it after powering on and only if no Program Change (PC) has been received.
- If you’ve changed presets (manually or via PC) or moved the cursor in the menu, it will reopen to the last slot you loaded or hovered.
It sounds like in your case you may have sent Ribbons a Program Change message and then opened the preset menu, so the cursor showed the last preset loaded.
We changed this behavior early on based on user feedback to reduce button presses.
Yeah that description is very early on in the manual and was geared at someone using a brand new Ribbons for the first time. If that’s not the case, you’ll just see whichever preset slot was last loaded. 1-4 are red, and 5-8 are blue. Once you’ve read through the Presets section I think it’s pretty clear how it all works.
