Hello. Just wondering if there are new updates/features planned for Sparks, given what you guys said about the lackluster initial response and how you’re taking a break from making more of those…and if there are, any chance of describing some of the things you’re looking at integrating down the road?
No updates to share at this time.
I don’t think the initial response was due to a lack of features, it was more-so because we didn’t send out demo units to content creators until later and it’s difficult to build awareness without any marketing help. I thought its impressive feature set would be enough to grab people’s attention but that’s not really how it works these days.
Luckily people seem more interested now and we’re feeling some momentum to do another batch soon.
i’m also hoping for a new batch very much!
Huh?
Call me a weirdo then…
I really was expecting the Sparks unit to sell itself…
I thought that the stereo functions PLUS distortion PLUS filters, synth, MIDI, yada yada were definitely worth the price of admission, especially since Kinotone had a cult-like following in certain circles.
Veeery curious to see what’s coming next
Sparks is such a multi-effect that’s it’s not even funny. Saturated harmonic tremolo? Yes. Envelope filter? Yes. Wild sound design? Yes. Gnarly drive? Easy. Yes!
Honestly, I’d love for the Sparks format to feature different drives in the “dual” format. Right now, we have a great saturation and wave-folder that can blend into a great mix of both! Now imagine another version with two vastly different fuzz circuits - like a compressed fuzz on one side, and a spitty gate fuzz on the other. I know this is hardware, not a firmware conversation. Juuuuust dreaming, and I love the sound and interface of Sparks, and would love the format to feature different circuits.
I love sparks. @mr_bernard nailed my use cases.
my only add to the firmware would be different functions for the left footswitch
it you could change it to control tempo, that would be a win.
if some sort of “Touch Modes” ala Ribbons were added, that would make it over the top.
maybe some kind of overload fuzz?
or some kind of instant Leslie mode?
i like the present switch and i get i can probably do this with some strategic presents, but something that was less destructive to the current setting would be really cool
I do what you’re describing with a midi foot controller. The Morningstar pro 6 one for me. It really opens up performance stuff.
Have you considered midi controllers?
The whole idea behind the Preset footswitch was to let the user design their own “Touch Mode”. Since everything is analog and anything goes with the LFO and envelope, it felt odd to do restrictive touch modes.
For example - do you want a harmonic tremolo that doubles in rate when you hold the touch footswitch? Dial in a harmonic tremolo setting that you like for your “live” setting, then tap LFO RANGE to double the rate → Save that as a preset. Now turn off the preset and tap RANGE again to go back to the lower speed rate. Now your live setting is a normal speed and tapping PRESET doubles the rate.
Presets can be momentary too! Hold the footswitch to momentarily load the preset. When you release the footswitch it will go back to your live setting. Great for quick performance effects.
@jaakjensen yes thank you for the explanation, I need to get better at saving presets. i love using it on the stock ones though!
@mr_bernard yes i actually have one, but didn’t connect the dots i could do what i was dreaming of, thank you!
appreciate the comment. will be looking forward to another drop. fwiw here’s a vote to a matching pink to ribbons or another shade like neon pink sparkle!
It’s super exciting to hear another batch may be in development!
