Hi folks,
I bought the ribbon thinking that it maybe able to use as an fx box to dj mixer via send/return or master insert. I use TRS to dual RCA for stereo i/o. I get no fx added to the incoming track.
I also tried the midi function where the unit is connected via trs type A to midi to eventide h9 max. The h9 max is connected send/return to DJ mixer. Here again, I don’t get any signal.
I am stumped. It is that this guitar pedal can only be compatible with guitar and synth keyboard and the like.
I am going to try it with elektron box to see if it works and the sound comes out. At the moment all, I see upon turning on that the lights/indicators are operational but any other sign of fx produced is not forthcoming.
Any suggestions. Thanks!
Couple things to double check - make sure the filters are open. If you have Lowpass turned all the way down you will not get any output. Have you been able to get signal on the channel with the pedal in bypass? Drawing out your signal chain may help you visualize the potential issue, or better communicate what’s being tried.

Hey - sorry you ran into trouble! I don’t think anything is wrong with your Ribbons though, it just has a unique user interface that takes a little getting used to.
These are all easy ways you will lose sounds:
- Turning the Low-Pass filter all the way to the left
- Turning the High-Pass filter all the way to the right
- Turning the MIX knob down
Check your settings on the green page. Make sure both filters are wide open and MIX is all the way up.
You can also try loading a preset. If it sounds like the description in the manual, then your Ribbons is working correctly! Preset 1 (Init) resets everything to a transparent state, which is a useful trick.
Once you’re ready to dial in some sounds, pretty much everything you need to know is in the first section of the manual, “Tape Effects.” The rest is a deep dive on the touch modes and 4-track looper.
In addition to the above good pieces of advice, I’d like to ask you to clarify what exactly you meant in your original post, talking about connecting Ribbons via MIDI to H9 Max.
This part is a bit strange/confusing, as I cannot understant what exactly were you trying to achieve by connecting Ribbons to H9 via midi, and how it can be related to H9 being connected to the mixer.
In this case, the fact that Ribbons is connected to H9 via MIDI cannot have any impact whatsoever on whether you’re getting sound from H9 into your mixer’s FX loop, unless I completely misunderstood your post.
As a general observation, Ribbons does not care too much about what is the sound source you feed into its input, so yes, it will process sound properly routed from a DJ mixer.
Did you try switching Ribbons into the INIT preset?
Did you try using any other pedal with your mixer’s FX loop? With the same mixer settings and (ideally) with the same cables/adapters?
Are you confident that all cables/adapters are fully operational?

We were able to identify this persons issue. They were just moving a bit too fast and had the Mix knob turned down.
