[Resolved] Ribbons clipping indicator

@jaak and others

Hi questions

my Ribbons the Led flicker red both with pedal disengaged or engaged is that normal behavior??
Have you experienced that om your ribbons??

It happens while i am playing on my guitar and fx have fuzz or gain pedals engaged

My sparks and my ghosts pedal doesnt do that.

I run the wet pedals in a fx stereo loop on my quad cortex the cables are brand new.
But I am wondering since the sparks and ghosts doesnt do that. Is there something i can do?

Hi @MrKiammidk - yes, that red flicker is normal.

On Ribbons, the Bypass LED flickering red means the input is clipping (signal is too hot). From the manual:

This can happen even if the pedal is bypassed, because the input stage can still be seeing that level, especially with fuzz/boost/gain pedals.

Fix: set Ribbons to Line Level to increase headroom. That should stop the red flicker and any unwanted distortion.

A quick note on the comparison: Sparks is an analog distortion pedal and is designed to distort so it doesn’t have the same clipping indicator. And with Ghosts, you may simply not be hitting the clip point as easily in your setup.

Thank you Jaak, i was beginning to get worrled
I will try the line out stereo first thing tomorrow morning :slight_smile:
The most important thing is that the ribbons is not broken. :slight_smile:

@jaak Yes it helped with line out stereo!, maybe it should be added in the section about led flicker ?
That if you experience led flicker also when not engaged the pedals, Line level fix that. :slight_smile:
