I received my Ghosts pedal last week. I plugged it in and it was working great. I have it connected in a stereo loop to a Helix Stadium. The midi is passing through a Disaster Area Midi box. It was receiving clock, and working fine.
Today I turned it on and it is no longer receiving midi of any kind. I confirmed that the Helix is sending midi clock and CC values to all other pedals. The Ghosts is not receiving midi clock, nor is it receiving midi CCs. I tried changing the midi channel (on Helix and Ghosts), the port on the Disaster Area box, and the cable. I’ve also done a factory reset of the Ghosts. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Since MIDI was working initially, I’d start by looking for something in the setup that changed or isn’t connecting properly. We test MIDI on every unit before it ships and have never seen a MIDI jack fail.
It sounds like you changed a lot of things at once. Try isolating and testing just one thing at a time.
If you did a factory reset, that resets Ghosts to MIDI channel 1. Clock is global though, so if Ghosts isn’t receiving clock or CC messages, I’d focus first on the physical connection, cable / adaptor type. I had the same issue at a gig last month. Turns out I had a couple bad TRS cables.
I apologize for being unclear- I only changed one thing at a time and tested before moving on to the next item/test. I also reset the channel to 3 after the reset.
I’ve tested multiple cables already. Here is the specific chain- helix midi out to disaster area midi box via 5pin. 1/4TRS (tip active) from Disaster Area midi box to Ghosts. There are other pedals receiving clock from the same Disaster area box (Red Panda Tensor, OBNE Bathing,Sunlight). All pedals are set to different midi channels.
The layer light should be blinking the clock rate, correct?
I think I see the issue: Ghosts doesn’t use the Tip Active connection.
It needs to be TRS MIDI TYPE A or TRS MIDI TYPE B.
That did it! I’m not sure why it worked at first. THANK YOU!!
