Question about how state-saving works on Ribbons

Is this intentional? If I set the pedal as I want, the next time I power up my board it resets everything?

It doesn’t clear all settings after a power cycle.

Ribbons saves state in the background depending on certain gestures. How this works depends on which version you’re running.

The latest version with the 2.0 firmware saves state 3 seconds after the push button or Bypass footswitch has been pressed.

OG ribbons with the 1.3 firmware saves state 10 seconds after the push button has been pressed.

We only save state that often because constant saving would wear out the flash memory and turn Ribbons into a brick in a couple of years. This method will ensure that Ribbons flash memory will last 100+ years.

Firmware v1.3 was a little more conservative but we’ve loosened things up for v2.0 to increase the probability of settings being remembered between power cycles. 2.0 also remembers the Bypass footswitch state.

4-track looper settings are not saved between power cycles.

I think you’re running 2.0, so try tapping the push button or Bypass footswitch, wait 3 seconds, then power cycle. If your settings are remembered correctly, everything is working as expected.
