Midi Pedal Recommendations

Hi Everyone,

I’m looking for some midi pedal recommendations for the Ribbons. I’ve never messed around with midi but have a handful of pedals, including Ribbons that I’d like to be able to control with a midi pedal. I’ve been looking at the Morningstar MC6 Pro but have seen that a lot of people have had trouble with it relating to Ribbons so wondering if anyone has experience with a similar midi pedal that wouldn’t be as troublesome for a midi beginner.

Thnaks!

check out pirate midi bridge 6 or anything by disaster area. the pirate midi has a really easy to use web interface, its well made if you can find them

I don’t have any problem using it with my Mc6 pro, Morningstar has actually made midi quiet easy to understand with the software editor if you just starting with midi that’s probably your safest bet (not the cheapest unfortunately) and it can also gets super deep if you want to. Otherwise look into pirate midi or disaster area maybe

On these forums, I’m seeing mixed comments about whether the Morningstar MC6 Pro works with Kinotone pedals or not… Can anyone from the Kinotone team confirm the compatibility status one way or the other? Or suggest alternative foot pedal MIDI controllers that would be compatible?

Take a look at the Luminite Graviton line of products, I find them extremely user friendly with a full touchscreen interface and mine works with every MIDI pedal I’ve fed it, including ghosts and ribbons:)
Has built in Bluetooth MIDI as well, which is super helpful when paired with a CME widi device.

i’m new to midi and got an mc6 pro as my first controller. small learning curve here and there, but generally it’s been a breeze getting things up and running with my ribbons and chase bliss pedals. not the cheapest option, but has been solid for me. would definitely recommend

There is no (and cannot be) any incompatibility between Kinotone pedals and MC6Pro.

It’s just that sometimes people tend to forget some small details.

For instance, Ribbons and Sparks have internal jumpers to configure the TRS MIDI type. If, for whatever reason, one of the Omniports on the MC6Pro is configured differently from the jumper settings, or if you use the 5PIN DIN to TRS adapter with wrong pinout - there will be no MIDI connection.

Ghosts are a bit easier in this deparment in that they’ll automatically adapt to both MIDI TRS Type A or Type B.

So I don’t know where those “mixed comments” are coming from, but my guess is from insufficient manual reading or steep learning curve of MC6Pro (yes, it’s not your “simple MIDI controller”)
