We wanted to share a bit about what we’re up to these days and when to expect restocks.
TLDR - we are moving and working towards a sale sometime in July.
As some of you probably know, we did a big Ghosts pre-order in March and finished delivering them all in May. We’d teased potentially having more stock later that month, but decided to slow the pace a bit and give ourselves some breathing room on the heels of another production run.
Summer in Minneapolis is pretty fleeting and special, so we’re trying to strike a balance between keeping things moving in the shop, and not overworking ourselves to the point that the season slips right by - which seems to happen more often than not.
Anyway, we’ve also had an exciting new development:
Kinotone HQ is moving
Kinotone started in a bedroom in our home in 2022, and then it was two bedrooms, and then it started creeping into the living room, and by then it was clear that we needed to reclaim our house and get a shop space. About a year and half ago we found a great spot in an old industrial building, and it suited our needs at the time but we’ve since outgrown it.
In a couple weeks we’ll be moving into a new space with more square footage in the same building.
Right now, design work, prototyping, storage, assembly, testing, shipping - all of it competes for space. We do lots of setting up and tearing down because we don’t have room for the dedicated workstations that we need. Pre-orders always feel a bit chaotic because there’s so much shuffling around.
This new space should be a big move in the right direction for us. We’ll be able to build out permanent stations for all of the different areas of our business, which should hopefully make day-to-day operations smoother and more sustainable. We’ll also have some room for future growth so we can bring on more help down the line if that feels right.
July Sale
We’re planning to have a sale once we’ve settled into our new space. No specific date yet, but as always the forum will be the first to know and get an email heads up.
There will be a decent number of Ghosts, lots of Ribbons in new colorways, and potentially a batch of Sparks depending on how things shake out.
No pre-order. They’ll be ready and available for immediate shipment.
