I know it sounds dumb, but all of a sudden I realised I don’t fully understant, where exactly is the 4-track looper in the Ribbons’ signal chain?
Do I record Tape Effects into the 4-track looper? Or do I apply tape effects to recorded loops?
There’s a sentence in the manual, that somewhat “hints” on the order: “You can also load presets if you want to apply dramatic changes to your loops during playback.”.
From this sentence it seems that Tape Effects should be applied to the recorded loop, is this correct?
The same question applies to Touch modes: do I apply touch modes to the recorded loop of a 4-track looper? Or do I record touch effects into the loop?
Again, the manual hints that “As of firmware 2.0, you can use any of the Touch Modes while your 4-track loops are playing back.”, which seems to tell that Touch modes are applied to the recorded loops, and not the other way around: loops can record the result of Touch modes.
Is this correct to assume then that the 4-track looper engine is first in the signal chain, right at the input?
Just out of curiosity: would it be technically possible to add a user-selectable 4-track looper position pre/post? Similar to what you have in Ghosts for Touch modes pre/post resonnators?
The reason I am asking is one of the funniest things I like to do with my standalone looper is flip it back and fourth along the signal chain using the reordable loop switcher (ML10X in my case). Tons of fun ))
Can the looper (and touch effects) be moved before dry signal is tapped?
That would allow playing the looper just like guitar signal and applying the same dry/wet ratio for tape effects to it
I was also a bit confused the other day. So all the effects - Tape and Touch are after the loops ? I also think it would be amazing if looper placement can be moved around. in my opinion Last would br awesome. Then we can put unique effects to each loop!
I believe there is a plan for this in the current development blog to be implemented via a midi CC message. I think Ribbons may be out of options to do this on the fly, but the Kinoteam would know more than me about that.
